The Principal Data Scientist is at the forefront of leveraging data to shape the business's strategic decisions. Reporting to the Senior Director of Platform Economics and Liquidity, this role will be primarily responsible for the design, development and operation of pricing and market-making algorithms across a growing portfolio of digital assets. We are looking for someone who is passionate about data, and knows how to solve problems using a mix of economic theory, machine learning techniques, and industry experience in a financial or e-commerce setting.

The candidate will be based in Europe and will be required to communicate with colleagues in fluent Ukrainian and English.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, monitor, and improve algorithms that provide liquidity on our marketplace; including models for asset valuation, pricing and fee optimization
• Oversee and manage the operation of market making activities across our digital marketplaces
• Develop and operationalize models that improve user interactions with our marketplace, including recommendation engines and retention/user lifecycle prediction
• Assess, integrate and analyze new sources of internal and external data
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to productize data solutions

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field with exceptional academic credentials (e.g., Mathematics, EE/CS, Statistics, or Operations Research)
• 5+ years’ experience working in a marketplace or e-commerce setting including as a contributor to strategic decisions
• Intermediate to advanced Python development skills
• Experience working with Python scientific computing packages (NumPy, SciPy, pandas, sklearn)
• Proficiency with SQL
• Knowledge of optimization methods, statistics, econometrics, and machine learning

Preferred Qualifications

• MA/MS. in a technical field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics/Finance, EE/CS, or Operations Research
• Previous people management experience in technical, development focused roles
• Familiarity with the GCP suite, including BigQuery, Composer, and Cloud Functions
• Familiarity with Airflow workflow management tools
• Interest in and proficiency with blockchain solutions
• Passion for video games
