The Opportunity
GridGain is seeking a proven Vice President of Marketing or Chief Marketing Officer to lead and rebuild its global marketing function. This is a pivotal leadership opportunity for a hands-on, strategic executive to partner with a newly retooled go-to-market team and drive a full marketing reset—from brand positioning and community engagement to demand generation and pipeline performance.
This leader will evolve GridGain’s messaging from feature/function-based to solution and use-case-oriented narratives, build the foundational team, and help shape an integrated customer journey that accelerates awareness, adoption, and revenue growth.
What You’ll Own
Product Marketing & Content Strategy
- Build a scalable product marketing function that enables sales, articulates business value, and supports new product introductions
- Drive the creation of solution and persona-based content across all funnel stages, supporting both awareness and conversion
Messaging & Positioning
- Own and evolve GridGain’s brand and solution messaging—from infrastructure-heavy jargon to differentiated, problem/solution value propositions
- Lead a messaging transformation grounded in real customer use cases and aligned with a solution selling framework
- Serve as a visible evangelist for GridGain at events, in media, and across digital channels
Demand Generation & Pipeline Impact
- Architect an integrated demand generation engine aligned to long-cycle enterprise sales
- Own MQL-to-SQL pipeline rigor, attribution clarity, and alignment with Sales through all funnel stages
- Define and execute campaigns targeting both new logo acquisition and expansion within enterprise accounts
Community & Open Source Engagement
- Reinvigorate GridGain’s connection to the Apache Ignite user base, driving OSS-to-commercial interest and community activation
- Partner with Developer Relations to grow GridGain’s presence within open-source and engineering communities
Team Leadership & Org Building
- Build and lead a high-performing team across product marketing, demand gen, content, and community
- Recruit and develop talent with deep domain and technical empathy
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Sales, and Customer Success to align go-to-market execution
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Marketing leadership in high-growth B2B software companies—ideally in databases, distributed systems, or software infrastructure
- Proven experience as a VP or CMO; no first-timers. Has built and led a high-performing marketing team from scratch
- Strong product marketing DNA—can translate deep technical capabilities into differentiated business value
- Fluent in open-source business models and experienced in growing developer communities
- Skilled in solution selling, ABM, long-cycle enterprise GTM, and supporting sales enablement across complex customer journeys
- Collaborative operator with executive presence, independent thinking, and a bias for action
- Comfortable working in dynamic, scaling environments with significant GTM and cultural transformation underway
