Software Engineer in Performance Lab
Virtuozzo
About Us
Virtuozzo is a pioneering force in alternative cloud infrastructure—trusted by service providers worldwide to deliver scalable, cost-effective virtualization, storage, and hyperconverged solutions. With roots in container innovation and firm contributions to OpenVZ, Kubernetes, OpenStack, CRIU, and more, we empower partners and enterprises to build any cloud—private, public, or hybrid—on their terms.
We are building a Performance Lab to drive company-wide performance benchmarks across our product portfolio. We are seeking a Software Developer in Performance lab to design, execute, and analyze performance tests across Virtuozzo’s product portfolio.
At Virtuozzo, you'll join a tight-knit team of remote and globally-distributed engineers who value high performance, systems thinking, and building software that consistently outpaces industry giants
What You’ll Be Doing
• Design, implement, and execute performance, scalability, and reliability tests for Virtuozzo products.
• Benchmark compute, storage, and network performance against leading infrastructure platforms (e.g.,
Nutanix, VMware vSphere, Red Hat OpenShift, Ceph).
• Evaluate failover, recovery, and operational resilience under real-world fault conditions.
• Build, configure, and automate multi-node test environments to ensure consistent, repeatable evaluations.
• Design workloads that represent service provider and enterprise use cases.
• Integrate automated performance tests into CI/CD pipelines to catch regressions and publish results to
dashboards.
• Apply system observability and profiling tools to identify bottlenecks and provide optimization insights.
• Document methodologies and results in clear, structured guidelines, runbooks, and reports for engineering
and product stakeholders.
What You Bring
• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience in developing, maintaining, or testing infrastructure, virtualization, or cloud solutions.
• Strong technical knowledge of virtual computing, storage, and networking technologies (e.g., Linux,
KVM/QEMU/libvirt, OpenStack, Kubernetes, Ceph).
• Experience with system performance and load testing tools (e.g., iperf, fio, sysbench, stress-ng) and system
observability (e.g., vmstat, iostat, sar).
• Fluent in Python and familiar with Bash and Ansible for test creation and environment configuration.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex system behaviors and communicate clear
conclusions.
Nice to Have
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated performance testing integration.
• Experience in performance benchmarking for infrastructure platforms (virtualization, cloud, or distributed
storage).
• Familiarity with performance benchmarking and load-testing tools and methodologies.
• Profiling instrumentation experience with eBPF/bpftrace.
• Hands-on experience with distributed storage tuning (Ceph, RDMA, NVMe, RAID).
• Exposure to cloud and hyperconverged platforms in production or testing environments.
